Springing into spring
I love this time of year. The days are getting longer and Easter is on the way. I realise that a month post surgery I may not be doing much actual springing into spring, but there are many things I’m looking forward to.
Even when things are difficult, spring is capable of stirring hope in my heart. Not just hope but real belief that things can and will get better. I know that getting outside, breathing in the fresh air and taking time to notice the new life springing up will ground me and make me feel better.
Those of you who’ve been in my world for any length of time will know I encourage you to be intentional each season so you don’t miss the things you love. The things that could get done at any time often end up not being done at all because life gets in the way. I always write myself a list of the things I want to do or experience and do my best to work through it.
For me being intentional this season looks like:
Getting outside every single day – preferably for a walk but five minutes in the garden with my cup of tea will do.
Adding a bunch of daffodils or two to my grocery shop.
Enjoying a hot cross bun – just smelling one toast makes me think of spring.
Meeting a friend for coffee and choosing a table outside to enjoy the spring sun.
Having a walk on the beach without needing hat, scarf, gloves and thermals!
Decorating the house for Easter.
Smelling the hyacinths.
Spotting the blossom begin to appear on the trees.
Listening to the dawn chorus.
Learning to identify a few more bird songs.
Cutting this year’s first posy of flowers from the garden.
A visit to RHS Bridgewater.
Enjoying seasonal food – I love British asparagus and new potatoes
What will be on your list? How will you plan for joy this season?
