Transforming fear into joy
A couple of weeks ago I shared that I'm choosing to say yes to life. One big and pretty brave yes was to attend a charity ball. It went from yes I’ll attend to help represent the women the charity helps, to yes I’ll sing in the choir, to yes I’ll lead the choir and sing a solo. To say I was nervous on the day is an understatement. Until three hours before the event the six of us in the choir hadn’t met other than on zoom and so I had no idea whether anyone else could actually sing!
We were all nervous and so glad to finally be in the room together and be able to rehearse. We got to the end of our very brief rehearsal relieved we sounded okay and made a pact to stop worrying and enjoy the experience.
We met again at 6pm, all glammed up in our dresses and heels. We practiced once more – mainly to ensure we could get on and off the stage in our heels and then got on with enjoying ourselves.
It was 10pm before it was our turn to sing. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous as all went quiet and 200 people were looking at me in the spotlight, waiting for me to begin. By the time the six of us finished the song there were lots of people moved to tears and we got a standing ovation.
It was worth every minute of practising over and over again at home. It was worth the effort and expense of finding a black tie dress. It was worth the effort and expense of getting there. It was worth paying the price in exhaustion in the days that followed. It’s an experience that I’m never going to forget and I’m so glad I said yes to all of it.
It’s made me even more determined to keep saying yes. To keep choosing to make time for the things that will bring me joy. Like last week when I shared that I got myself out running again despite my fears! And I want to encourage you to do the same. To make the choices that you know will make you happy. To do the things that may be outside of your comfort zone but you know will be life-changing. I’m finally back at work after my surgery so if you'd like some help with working out what it is that you actually want, or how you're going to make it happen I am available for one-to-one coaching.
If we have never worked together before a jump-start package is the best place to start. You get a 90 minute coaching session followed by two weeks of virtual support to help keep you on track and then a follow-up 30 minute coaching session. If after experiencing the power of coaching you decide to continue, I deduct the amount you paid for the jump-start from whatever coaching package you purchase. The jump-start package costs £397 but to celebrate being back I’m offering a 50% discount for a limited time. Use coupon code SUMMER50 at checkout. And even if you’ve had a jump-start before you are very welcome to book another using the code. Just £198.50 for two hours of one to one coaching and two weeks of virtual support.
Over the past couple of years these sessions have been used for all sorts of things.
To get unstuck and work out what's next.
To find more joy in day to day living.
To find a way forward after an unexpected life event.
To decide what door to open next when there are so many options.
To choose what to say no to so there's more time and energy for the things that will bring joy.
To work out what it is holding them back so that they can start making some progress.
To explore new ways of doing things because the old ones aren't working.
Over the last year I have undertaken an additional diploma in therapeutic coaching so I now have lots more ways to help you understand yourself, what's going on for you and how you can make new choices. As one client who had a jump-start just before my surgery said, "I'm a really thoughtful person, I think a lot, but over the last 90 minutes you've taken me deeper than I've ever gone before."
It’s time to say yes to life and transform fear into joy!
